Our house sits on the south shore of Rocky Harbour. It has its own beach and wharf. Rocky Harbour is a working fishing harbour so expect to see fishermen heading out towards the lighthouse in the early hours of morning and returning laden down with catches from mid-morning onwards. Our wharf and beach gather the flotsam and jetsam of a fishing port. Although care should be taken when playing in this area, great fun can be had exploring he beach fossicking treasures washed-in by the sea.
The covered veranda/deck is an ideal spot to sit with an early morning cup of coffee or tea to read a book or just enjoy the solitude of the breaking day. During the summer it is ideal for eating outdoors, watching the sun dip on the horizon. The outdoor setting is perfect for two or four persons and additional cane chairs and folding deck chairs can be brought out for guests.
The round table in the dining room is set up to seat four and can be extended to seat six comfortably. This space offers views out over the harbour to the north shore and out to the light house.
Our kitchen is modern and well equipped. A wall-mounted oven, microwave and refrigerator, coffee-maker, toaster and range of cutlery and crockery to enable you to cook at home if you choose. We keep a small stock of such essentials as salt, pepper, herbs, oil, tea and coffee so that you are not caught-short of essential condiments.
The large lounge has two distinct spaces. One for relaxing and watching the 32” flat-screen TV or curling up on the sofa with a magazine or good book. We stock a selection of DVDs for your enjoyment – a bit of a mix of genres. At the other end of the lounge are two rocking chairs – large enough to curl-up with a good book or one of the many New Zealand magazines in the adjacent shelves.
Adjacent to the dining area is our den or study. A computer is provided for the use of guests. Wireless internet access is installed and the password to connect to wireless will be provided to guests. In this room there is a pull-out sofa bed for additional guests.
The main bedroom offers glimpses of Gros Morne from the bedroom window, which reveals the ever-changing colours and character of this impressive landform. The room is tastefully furnished with Queen-sized bed and bedside tables, quality bed linens and has its own walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom.
The second bedroom has two twin beds which can be brought together if required. It faces the ocean and the sounds of waves and sea breezes guarantee a great night’s sleep.
